One of the most famous TV shows in history is the Simpsons, which has been around for 35 years, and is defiantly my favorite show. This post is something I thought about after watching one of the Simpsons Episodes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the Season 7 Episode Bart on the Road, to make a very long story short, Bart manages to get a drivers license, so he rents a car, and he, along with Millhouse, Nelson, and Martin, go on a road trip for spring break. They begin to drive to Knoxville, Tennessee, to visit the Worlds Fair there. However, when they arrive, to their dismay, they find out that the worlds fair was 14 years ago. In a rage, Nelson accidentally destroys the Sunsphere which destroys the car, leaving the boys stranded. But I wondered: Right before Nelson destroyed the car, what would have been the fastest way for the boy’s to get home, but still enjoy spring break?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

First, we got to determine where Springfield is. According to most people, it is probably in Oregon, so I will use the real life Springfield Oregon as the destination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We also have to determine parameters and constraints. Because of the alibi Bart made, where they were attending a spelling bee, and would be back on Sunday, they can only arrive on Sunday, because the parents would be confused on why they are back early. They also, whenever making a stop, can only spend 5 hours there. On top of that, they can’t drive further east, as that would bring the risk of not making it on time. Finally, everyone has to sleep, including Bart, the driver. With that in mind, let’s begin!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bart and his friends left on Sunday morning, and Bart drove nonstop to Knoxville without sleep, with an hour long stop in Branson, Missouri, making them arrive on Tuesday, at around 10 AM. Bart, however, despite having a lot of energy, will need to sleep, because it could be potentially unsafe on the road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Assuming they left Knoxville at 10 AM, going on a strait shot to Springfield, along with 8 hours for everyone to sleep, would make them arrive in Springfield in Thursday, at around 8 AM. However that would be way to early, and also the whole purpose of the road trip was to do something, so they would have to make some detours…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nelson, for some reason, really wanted to go to Macon, Georgia, so the boy’s would have to stop there for whatever Nelson wanted, and they would have to spend 5 hours there. They would also need to sleep for 16 hours total, making them arrive at Friday at 4 AM in the morning, which would mean the trip might mess up everyone’s sleep schedule. Still too early.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Millhouse, right before picking up the brochure that lead them to Knoxville, thought that they should go to Disneyland. So, the boys would have to go to Los Angeles, California, to go to Disneyland. Bart didn’t specifically say where he wanted to go, but it has been hinted that he would really like Las Vegas. For example, in the episode $pringeild, he makes a casino in his treehouse after he got kicked out of a real casino. But still, all that would make them arrive on Saturday, at 2 PM. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Martin, being a more minor character, makes it tricky on where he might want to go. However, because of Martin’s scientific nature, there is one major place along the way that has something up his alley: Los Alamos, where the nuke was built, and where there is still a research center. With that, we can deliver the final result: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The nonstop drive would be 54 hours, and we have to add 16 hours to sleep, and 20 hours of everyone stopping to do stuff. This would bring the grand total to: 90 hours which makes arrival at 4 PM on Saturday. That means that, even with all that, they are still a whole day early!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In order to spend the last day without getting caught, they could drive to Portland, spend the night there, and drive back, arriving at 1 PM on Sunday, concluding the Spring Break. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, this was a fun experiment! However, this doesn’t take into account gas, because they ran out of money, and with the tank, probably would have only made it to Macon GA. Maybe after this, Bart would have learn’t his lesson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ahh, who am I kidding, Bart never learns his lesson<\/p>\n\n\n\n
